Here you will find my latest film reviews, a few pretty pictures and some shameless plugging of my latest book, The Index. The last-named is a labour of love that I have been compiling since Mira Sorvino won an Oscar for Mighty Aphrodite (no relevance). It is an alphabetically organised dictionary of the cultural, biographical and semantic, a sort of biographical thesaurus in collusion with a reservoir of really extraordinary words. There seems to be a name for everything – including the loathing of happiness (called “cherophobia”) – and because The Index is in an A-to-Z format, you can locate all kinds of anomalies at the flick of a page.
